Mind-bending, gorgeous choreography returns to Park City with a new spark of genius from the wildly inventive Moses Pendleton. The classically trained dancer-illusionists of MOMIX deliver the unexpected in a new collection of Pendleton pieces - entitled "DreamCatcher" - at The Eccles Center on Saturday, February 7. "The mad and marvelous troupe" (Toronto's Globe and Mail) unleashes its mesmerizing performance at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 435-655-3114 or online at EcclesCenter.org.

For the uninitiated, MOMIX is a dance company unlike any other. Referring to itself as a company of "dancer-illusionists," MOMIX performs with an edgy - and sometimes trippy - dose of innovation. Using larger-than life props, light, shadow, remarkable grace and athleticism, bold costumes, projected imagery and a classical-to-New Age score (Bach to Peter Gabriel), "DreamCatcher" is yet another Pendleton adventure that overflows with imagination. The evening consists of 15 otherworldly - yet accessible - pieces of dance.

"The beauty of MOMIX is that even though it's technically incredible in terms of dance and choreography, it's also the kind of performance that everyone can appreciate. You don't need to know anything about dance to experience the joy, the humor, the sensuality, the awe...," says PCI's executive director Teri Orr.

While surreal innovation may be its hallmark, this troupe also boasts exquisite performers. As The Boston Globe writes, "MOMIXs dancers are excellent - acrobatic, athletic, extraordinarily strong and flexible."

A founding member of the ground-breaking Pilobolus Dance Theater in 1971, Moses Pendleton formed his own company, MOMIX, in 1980. Since then, the company has become internationally known for inventiveness and beauty. The troupe has performed on stage and screen to critical acclaim. As the Toronto Star writes, "If contemporary dance has a Renaissance man, it must be Moses Pendleton."

Park City Institute presents Moses Pendleton's MOMIX on Saturday, February 7 at The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts (1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City). The dancer-illusionists perform the troupe's newest show, "DreamCatcher" at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $69* (20-percent discount for seniors, ½ price tickets for children ages 16 and under; $5 seats are available in the Copper Section for Summit County students (K-12). Tickets and information are available at The Eccles Center box office, 435-655-3114 or www.ecclescenter.org.
