The first encore screening, on July 26 at 7:00 pm features Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performing its signature work, Revelations, the American dance masterpiece created by company founder Alvin Ailey, and three additional works: Chroma by Wayne McGregor, Grace by Ronald K. Brown, and Takademe by the company's Artistic Director Robert Battle. Coming to movie theaters on August 2 at 7:00 pm is Ballet Hispánico, the nation's premier Latino dance company, with two audience favorites: CARMEN.maquia, an electrifying contemporary take on Bizet's passionate opera choreographed by Spaniard Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, and Club Havana, a virtuosic reimagining of a sizzling nightclub, by Cuban-born choreographer Pedro Ruiz. San Francisco Ballet's glorious production of Romeo & Juliet, choreographed by company Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson, will conclude the summer encore presentations on August 9 at 7:00 pm.
To enhance the Lincoln Center at the Movies experience for audiences of all ages, Lincoln Center Education has created interactive guides to accompany each Great American Dance screening. The guides are tailored for various audiences for use by: teachers, families with children, after-school programs, and lifelong learners. The guides use videos, readings, images, and participatory activities to provide information about each company and work, including historical context, music, choreography, and design, to encourage discussion prior to and after seeing the performance.
