José Mateo Ballet Theatre continues the Company's remarkable 28th Season with a concert of stunning original ballets by New England's celebrated dance-maker, José Mateo. Unbridled (today, Feb.14-March 2) warms up winter's cold with three of Mateo's most popular ballets that explore the passion and complexities of human relationships.

Unbridled is the second of a four-concert repertory series at the glorious Sanctuary Theatre, 400 Harvard St, Harvard Square, Cambridge. UNBRIDLED (today, February 14-March 2, 2014) Press Night: Fri, Feb. 21 Great musical works from the Classical, Romantic and Modern styles are the forces behind this program of three Mateo favorites that will escort you to varied personal realms of love, courtship and sensuality. Take a journey through dance's vast range of dramatic expression from the emotionally restrained to the passionately unbridled.

Unbridled features Mateo's intimate and deeply passionate Schubert Adagio, set to Franz Schubert's Quintet in C. The ballet has become one of Mateo most popular and acclaimed works since its premiere in 1991 at the Cutler Majestic Theatre. While deceptively wrapped in the alluring formal patterns of classical ballet, Mozart Concerto (premiered 1991), set to Mozart's Piano Concerto #20, unsuspectingly takes audiences to the more private realm of personal emotion. Sound Secrets (premiered 2010) features a woman haunted by her own guilt about her disloyalty to a lover who is himself unashamedly disloyal, set to Béla Bartok's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion. The 28th Company Season offers Boston audiences a thrilling theater experience with cabaret-style seating, cocktails during the show and an extraordinarily close-up view of the dancers. Hailed by Boston Magazine as "Best of Boston Dance Performance 2011", Mateo's hallmark-style of presenting dance close-up makes dance personal and relevant to today's audiences.
