Millennium Dance Studio, Inc., operator of the world-famous Millennium Dance Complex, announced today that it has formed a new subsidiary to develop franchised dance studios throughout the United States and eventually around the globe. Millennium Dance Franchising, LLC plans to sign agreements for 10 to 15 franchise units in its debut year. Ultimately, the company plans to have studios throughout the country and around the world, providing classes, lessons, studio rentals and parties with a focus on jazz, hip hop, tap, ballet and other forms of contemporary dance.
The original Millennium Dance Complex was created in 1992 by Ann Marie Baker, who was later joined in the management of the studio by her husband Robert. The two initially met beneath the lights of Broadway in New York and then danced their way to fame as operators of one of the world’s premier hip-hop/modern dance studios.
Today Millennium is the place where L.A.’s headliners, backup dancers and their choreographers go to showcase, hone or check out new moves, or simply to get in a vigorous workout among top instructors and fellow professionals. The original studio caters to some of the best-known names in music – Justin, J. Lo, Janet, Usher, Diddy, Bieber, Miley, Pink and Britney, to name a few. Celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Hudgens and Katie Holmes have trained at the studio, Michael Jackson used Millennium Dance Complex to hold insider auditions for his tours and videos, “Pussycat Dolls” creator Robin Antin casted for a new MTV series, “Becoming,” and a variety of television shows and segments have been filmed on-site including the MTV hit “Dancelife” with Jennifer Lopez.
Millennium also offers rising stars an opportunity to train under top choreographers, and up-
and-coming choreographers a chance to build and enhance their reputations. But it is not just for
professional dancers. The North Hollywood flagship studio welcomes everyday dancers as well and has been the site of such events as a “High School Musical Dance Along” featuring cast members of the hit film series leading young children in the latest dance steps, all covered on “Access Hollywood.” Future locations will similarly cater to the novice up through the headliners.
To fund the purchase of locations and support the overall growth of the system, Millennium Dance
Studio has developed several capital investment programs in addition to its franchise program.
