The famed Grand Theatre of Quebec, home to the Quebec Symphony, will present the internationally celebrated dance troupe, Robberbanddance Group in a special performance tonight, December 10.
Conducted by Victor Quijada and Anne Plamondon and based in Montreal in 2002, the Rubberbandance Group is already a sensation in Canada, the United States and Europe. Its success stems from its intriguing new style-breaking fusion of ballet and contemporary dance - the intense and contagious energy, the exceptional dancers and the obvious pleasure of dancing. Punto Ciego, the latest work from their repertoire, combine talent of six magnificent performers, gestures developed by Quijada, as well as theater and video. The piece tells different stories from several perspectives.
The performance will take place in the Hall-Octave Crémazie. Tickets are $ 35.65 and $28.50 for students. To purchase tickets and for additional information on upcoming events, visit www.grandtheatre.qc.ca/.
The Grand Theatre de Quebec was launched in February 1963 by Premier Jean Lesage in the Old Capital building. The idea was to build a space that was home to all the arts, and the dream was realized on its official opening on January 16, 1971. Guy Beaulne, actor, director and playwright, critic, was appointed as first director general. The total cost of building the theater was $10 million and $ 4million for the Conservatory of Music.
