The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) will host three dance master classes with guest artist Meg Paul on Sunday, October 18. The sessions include an Intermediate/Advanced Ballet class from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by an Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary class from noon to 1 p.m. These master classes, for ages 13 and older, will be held at THE BLACK BOX, located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. From 2:00-3:30, Meg Paul will lead a Musical Theater Dance Workshop, for students ages 10 and older, at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts, located at 38 Main Street, just behind THE BLACK BOX.
Meg Paul began her professional career at age 15, touring with the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group and the Joffrey Ballet II apprentice company. Promoted to the Joffrey Ballet at 19, she rose to principal dancer and performed leading roles with the company. A recipient of The Princess Grace Award, she has also been a principal dancer with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Ron De Jesus Dance. Ms. Paul was Ballet Master for the Joffrey Ballet Ensemble and Complexions Contemporary Ballet and a faculty member at The Joffrey Ballet School in NYC. She directed Ballet Builders, a NYC showcase for emerging choreographers. Meg Paul assisted Twyla Tharp for the Tony Award-winning musical, Movin' Out, serving as Dance Captain during the Broadway run. She performed the leading roles of "Brenda" and "Judy" and also staged the national touring cast of Movin' Out.
The master class fees are $35 for Ballet, $30 for Musical Theater, and $25 for Contemporary. Proper ballet attire and hair are required for the ballet master class.
