The Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg makes its eighth visit to Segerstrom Center for the Arts June 5 - 7, 2015 with a West Coast premiere of Boris Eifman's newest work, Up and Down. Set to the sumptuous music of Alban Berg, Franz Schubert and George Gershwin, this full-length ballet by the company's renowned founder and artistic director delves into Sigmund Freud's view of the unconscious mind through a tumultuous love story. Placed in the dazzling, decadent 1920s, the production is a narrative ballet of young love that is destroyed by the deep psychological complications between a woman and man. Up and Down replaces the previously announced production. Eifman changed his initial idea during the creative process, and this new title and direction better suit the themes he was hoping to convey.
