Eglevsky Ballet Announces Summer Intensive Classes

In 2015, the Eglevsky Ballet engaged Maurice B. Curry as its new Executive Artistic Director. In two years, the Eglevsky Ballet has doubled the enrollment in its dance academy and now boasts ten educators and a resident artist. A full slate of year-round ballet classes and workshops are offered for students ranging from three years of age to 20 years old. "When I started here at Eglevsky, I thought it would take us at least four years to get to where we are today," says Curry. "We are growing by leaps and bounds!"

In addition to the year-round ballet classes, Eglevsky Ballet offers several Summer Intensive Programs for serious students: Ballet (ages 11-20); Ballet & Contemporary (ages 11-20); and Young Dancers (ages 7-10). Auditions for the summer intensives will be held in numerous cities including Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Washington, DC; New York City, NY; Columbia, SC; Charlotte; NC; Baltimore, MD; Norfolk, VA; Pensacola, FL; and Bethpage, NY. Dates for the Summer Intensive Programs are as follows: Ballet Intensive: June 25 - July 22 Young Dancer Intensive: July 17 - July 28 Ballet & Contemporary Intensive: July 31 - August 11 from July 11th through August 8th

Guest faculty for this year's Summer Intensives will feature Brian Reeder of the American Ballet Theater (ABT) and New York City Ballet (NYCB); Dennis Nohat of ABT and Ballet San Jose; Kaitlyn Gilliland of NYCB; Ashley Murphy of the Washington Ballet; Sean Aaron Carmon of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre; Brian Gephart of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet; and Jere Hunt of RIOULT Dance NY.

Applications are also being accepted for this year's Tiny Dancer Summer Classes for a limited number of students. Three different level classes will meet on Tuesday afternoons and will be taught by Shana Goldberger, an ABT (R) National Training Curriculum Certified Teacher. First Steps class for three-year-olds will meet from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and will accept only 10 students. Pre-Primary class for 4- 5-year-olds will meet from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will accept only 15 students. PreBallet class for 5-6 year-olds will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be limited to 15 students. Tuition for Tiny Dancer Summer Classes is only $100.
