Danza-Teatro Retazos will visit the Youth Performing Arts School on Wednesday, September 25th for a contemporary dance masterclass with the students from the school's dance program, to be followed by a demonstration of the dance company's repertoire. The masterclass will start at 1:00 p.m., lasting 45 minutes to be followed by the 15 minute demonstration. Eleven dancers from the company will participate.
The dance troupe was created in Havana City in January 1987 by the choreographer and professor Isabel Bustos Romoleroux. This artistic initiative was born of the necessity to find, through natural and daily gesture, a language able to express contradictions and good and bad decisions of our times. Bustos invents an intimate language from creative Avante Garde and a singular scenic approach.
They will appear during IdeaFestival at the Kentucky Center on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m., presented in cooperation with the Copperbridge Foundation. This will be their U.S. premiere. Tickets are available at www.ideafestival.com.
