The Dancewave Spring Gala, one of Brooklyn's premiere events to raise funds for youth development programs, brings together prominent advocates of the arts and individuals at the forefront of education, politics, philanthropy, and business. The event will include dancing and live performances amid cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The Dancewave company students will perform "New Second Line" by Camille A. Brown and "Biana" by Julia Ehrstrand.

In the fall of 2017, Dancewave will break ground on the Dancewave Center, a New Your City capital project funded in part by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department of Design and Construction supporting the arts in New York City. This Center will further strengthen the arts, particularly dance, in the community by bringing together people to collaborate from diverse backgrounds across Brooklyn and the greater New York metropolitan area.

Who: Dancewave is a Brooklyn-based, women-owned dance nonprofit providing all NYC youth access to a supportive dance experience that embraces and encourages individuality and equips students with the life skills to unlock their full potential as people and community members. The Gala will honor: Camille A. Brown, Jody Gottfried Arnhold, and Velmanette Montgomery.

When: April 26, 2017 from 6:00PM-9:00PM.

Where: Roulette | 509 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217 (near Barclay's Center and accessible via the following MTA subway lines: 2, 3, 4, 5, B, Q, D, N, R)

Why: The Spring Gala fundraiser enables Dancewave to provide youth development through dance by offering affordable dance classes to Brooklyn youth and adults and providing teens with opportunities to learn the work of world-renowned choreographers by performing in pre-professional companies and ensembles. Gala proceeds support Dancewave's Scholarship Initiative and Dancewave's arts education outreach program, D-Wave in Motion.
