EMILY LOSCOCCO, principal dancer of Alaska Dance Theater, and ALAN ALBERTO, principal dancer of Festival Ballet Providence, will appear as guest artists in the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet's production of The Nutcracker this weekend, December 12 and 13, 2015 at the Riverview Theatre in Shreveport, Louisiana.
EMILY LOSCOCCO's first ballet teacher was Wayne Stewart of the Royal Ballet. She received her formal ballet training under the guidance of Galina Kozlova at the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C. She had also received a scholarship for the Boston Ballet Summer Program.
In 2007 Ms. Loscocco joined the Orlando Ballet where she danced in ballets by Twyla Tharp, Peter Stark, Richard Cook, Christopher Fleming, Bruce Simpson, George Balanchine, Bruce Marks, and Fernando Bujones.
In 2009 Ms. Loscocco pursued her career joining BalletMet in 2009 where she danced in ballets by Gerard Charles, Dwight Rhoden, David Nixon, Bergit Scherzer, and Devon Carney.
In 2011 Ms. Loscocco joined Festival Ballet Providence as principal dancer. Ms. Loscocco has continued to expand her repertoire including the role of Calliope in George Balanchine's Apollo, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in Mihailo Djuric's production of The Nutcracker, the Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, Carnival of Venice of Pas de Deux, and principal roles in Balanchine's Agon, and in ballets by George Birkadze, and Victor Plotnikov.
In 2015 Ms. Loscocco joined Alaska Dance Theater as a principal dancer, and a member of the faculty of the company's school.
Ms. Loscocco was awarded a top 12 at the Youth American Grand Prix and was given a scholarship for further studies at the Munich Ballet in Germany.
In 2012 Ms. Loscocco appeared in A Night of Ballet 2012 at the Mongolian State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, dancing with Altan Dugaraa of the Boston Ballet.
Born in Daly City, California, ALAN ALBERTO began his formal ballet training at 15 with Marielena Mencia and Yanis Pikieris in Miami, Florida. A year later he was accepted to The Harid Conservatory in Florida from which he graduated in 2005. Upon graduating he was accepted to the Vaganova Ballet Academy, formerly known as the Kirov Ballet School, in St. Petersburg, Russia. In the Academy he studied under the direction of Yuri Ivanovich Umrijin.
Once completing his studies and returning to the United States, he began working as a company member with the Nashville Ballet. To further develop his career he moved to New York City and began working as a freelance artist with Rebecca Kelly Ballet, Ballet X, and New Chamber Ballet.
In 2010 he was invited to join the Croatian National Theater in Split as a Soloist, and he is now in his fourth season with Festival Ballet Providence.
Mr. Alberto's repertoire includes the Grand Pas from La Bayadere, Twyla Tharp's Octet, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Albrecht and Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle, Prince Desiree and the Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, and other soloist roles in The Nutcracker, Zorba The Greek, Carmina Burana, and George Balanchine's Concerto Barocco.
