Tonight, November 10, at 7 pm in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theatre, DanceFAR 2015 presents a spectacular evening of world class dance, including performances by American Ballet Theatre principals Marcelo Gomes and Stella Abrera, Danielle Rowe (formerly of Nederlands Dans Theater), Garen Scribner performing with San Francisco Ballet principal Dores Andre, and numerous performances from the Bay Area's leading dance companies.

The one-night-only program, with the theme "We Dance For A Reason," was assembled by DanceFAR co-founders Garen Scribner, James Sofranko and Margaret Karl and also features performances from San Francisco Ballet, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Art of Teknique, Diablo Ballet, Garrett + Moulton Productions, LEVYdance, SFDanceworks, Silicon Valley Ballet, and Smuin Ballet. Scribner (currently appearing in An American in Paris on Broadway) and Andre will be performing an excerpt from the An American in Paris ballet from the Broadway production, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon.

The DanceFAR 2015 performance, and its popular after-party featuring food from acclaimed Bay Area restaurants and wines by award-winning producers, benefits the cancer prevention, research and education initiatives of the Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC).

Tickets are available now at dancefar.org for the DanceFAR 2015 performance and after-party to be held Tuesday, November 10th at 7 p.m. at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater and Forum.

About the Organizers

DanceFAR was founded in 2012 by San Francisco Ballet dancers Garen Scribner, James Sofranko and Margaret Karl as a way to give back to the community and encourage volunteerism, providing a platform for artists to share their talents while contributing to charitable causes. Its inaugural event took place June 6th, 2012 to a sold-out house of over 900 seats at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco and featured a beautiful after-party in the legendary Green Room. The 2013 and 2014 events, which were held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, both achieved similar success. The DanceFAR team is proud to have raised almost $300,000 for CPIC over the last three years.
About the Cancer Prevention Institute of California

Its research scientists are leaders in investigating the causes of cancer in large populations to advance the development of prevention-focused interventions. CPIC's innovative cancer prevention research and education programs, together with the work of the Stanford Cancer Institute, can make our vision of a world without cancer a reality.
