New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Dance Theater of Harlem: MLK Celebration on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the Prudential Hall. Get your tickets now at NJPAC.org or 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722).

NJPAC's annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration pays tribute to the life and legacy of one of the 20th century's most inspiring leaders. The year features a performance by Dance Theatre of Harlem, the legendary ballet company founded as an artistic means to turn despair into hope following the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Recommended for grades 6-12.

Dance Theatre of Harlem, one of the nation's most vital dance institutions, consists of racially diverse dancers, known worldwide for bringing a contemporary flair to classical and neo-classical ballet repertoire. The company was founded in 1969 by dance master Arthur Mitchell (the first African-American man to become a principal dancer with a major U.S. ballet company, New York City Ballet) and the late Karel Shook. Dance Theatre of Harlem remains committed to artistic excellence, and to reaching new audiences with a powerful message of self-reliance, artistic relevance and individual responsibility.

Prior to leading Fountain Baptist Church, Pastor Jerry Sanders was Pastor of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Lake Lure, N.C. He is a Life Member of the NAACP and a member of American Baptist Churches, the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., Inc., the Summit Interfaith Clergy Association and the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the New Brunswick Theological Seminary
