A Family Day packed with fun and inspiring activity, a fascinating range of talks, discussions and workshops, and a brand new community touring show for children will give even more people the chance to enjoy Dance International Glasgow.

Running from Friday 21 April to Sunday 21 May, Dance International Glasgow (DIG) will feature a stunning range of contemporary dance from some of today's most exciting choreographers, directors and companies performed at Tramway and other venues in Glasgow.

The ENGAGE programme is a series of events giving opportunities to find out more about the work showing at DIG and to get involved.

Sunday 14 May will be a special Tramway Family Day for DIG. There will be free drop in activities from 12 noon - 4.30pm, with chances to build beautiful cardboard sculptures, create an interactive sensory garden, enjoy live performances and much more. Family Day events are recommended for babies, toddlers and children aged up to 12 and their families.

Other highlights of ENGAGE include a series of dance workshops tailored for different ages and levels of experience. Everyone can enjoy playful entry-level sessions such as free family workshops from the acclaimed Siobhan Davies Dance, while dancers, musicians and performing arts students will have the chance to work with visiting companies and artists including Mark Murphy's V-TOL, James Cousins Company, Didy Veldman and Alexander Balanescu.

The talks and discussions events include Art as Action: Women Making Art, when four artists will draw on their own artistic practice to explore areas of collaboration, community and making change, and Siobhan Davies Dance: Neuroscience and Movement when a scientist and an artist discuss how we understand and relate to others' bodies in space.

As part of its performance programme, DIG has joined forces with Glasgow Arts Community Touring to present a brand new show in community venues, schools and nurseries for audiences aged 3 to 5 years old. Four Go Wild In Wellies by Scotland's inclusive professional dance company Indepen-dance4 is a whimsical adventure featuring bobble hats, scarves, tents that have a life of their own and, of course, lots of fun in wellies.

Holly Rumble, Public Engagement Co-ordinator for Tramway, said: "There's a fantastic range of shows to see on stage during Dance International Glasgow. ENGAGE gives people of all ages and abilities opportunities to explore, enjoy and experience our fantastic month long festival of contemporary dance in fascinating new ways."

Dance International Glasgow is a biennial festival for Glasgow and Scotland, programmed and produced by Tramway and Glasgow Life. Tramway is supported by Glasgow City Council and Creative Scotland.
