Clairobscur Dance Company presents the evening: ARIDITY, for one night only, March 5, 2016, at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. Following their recent premiere at San Francisco's Cowell Theater, Clairobscur returns to Los Angeles to present their newest evening of works.
ARIDITY is about drought, about loss, about intensity. Three original scores, three original choreographies, a Los Angeles premiere and award winning work.
Through a rich tapestry of movement, sound and visuals, the works of ARIDITY explore the drying up of place and being. Acclaimed Artistic Director and Choreographer Laurie Sefton presents the Los Angeles premiere of desiccated earth/California, her collaboration with composer Mark Hadley and designer Leslie Karten, which tackles issues related to climate change.
The program also includes Memory Lapse the 2015 collaboration between Laurie and composer Bryan Kostors as well as her award winning Crawl Xipe Totec, performed in its entirety for the first time since 2009.
The evening will be rounded out by To Dust, a Bryan Kostors film/composition that presents ideas about Owens Lake and the state of water use in California and the American West.
