Big Apple Baroque presents a fully staged, magnificently crafted production of Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen featuring Du!an T"nek Dance Theatre on June 14th, 16th and 17th at 7:30pm at The Kaye Playhouse, Hunter College. BAB's forthcoming production of this major opera is a testimony to the fact that New York has all the talent, imagination and energy to tackle a work usually only presented by foreign touring companies. Its adaptation is generating interest well beyond New York and in response it is hosting a one-day academic conference on June 15th to explore in greater detail the world into which The Fairy Queen was born. All ticket holders gain complimentary access to the academic conference. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.bigapplebaroque.org.
This is Big Apple Baroque's first commercial venture, although since its establishment in 2002 it has a track record of high quality performances of Baroque and Early Classical repertoire, fostering local Early Music talent in New York and giving back to the community by supporting projects to help the homeless in the city.Videos
