iDanceinAustin is a new, online platform to connect and support the Austin dance community. Created by Balance Dance Studios' co-founders, Kathy Dupuy and Kristin Nicolaisen, the free site provides up-to-date news on all things dance, including informative, inspirational, and educational information. Visitors can find a studio or instructor, search for auditions or learn about new dance events. They can also add events and classes they wish to publicize to the Austin Dance Community. iDanceinAustin strives to deliver all the resources necessary for instructors, studios, and dance lovers to remain united with one another in the combined enjoyment of dance.
"Austin's dance community has grown exponentially and there is a need for connection," says Dupuy. "iDanceinAustin is like the hub of a wheel, bringing together dancers, choreographers, teachers, and non-profits as well as non-professional dance enthusiasts. Visitors will be able to do everything from find a class to create their own profile to connect and share information."
The first annual iDanceinAustin showcase will feature a juried selection of dancers, choreographers and performers throughout Austin. The title of the evening 'Set Free' reflects the mission of the event's non-profit beneficiary, The Refuge, which fights against Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST) in Austin and provides long-term, holistic care in a pastoral and peaceful setting for girls ages 11-17, who have been rescued out of sex trafficking.
Dupuy, a dancer herself and successful entrepreneur, is also the founder and owner of Mom's Best Friend, a household staffing agency that provides professional household staff, nannies and senior care. Business partner, Kristin Nicolaisen, is a celebrated dancer and performer in her own right, having taught and performed throughout the country.
