Alonzo King LINES Ballet makes its Harris Center debut, performing Meyer, a new work to a score by Edgar Meyer, and Resin. With his bold, abstract poetry of movement, Alonzo King explores a new understanding of what dance can be. Since 1982, Alonzo King's original choreography has been brought to life by the extraordinary LINES Ballet dancers, in performances critics have called, "Stunning, fierce and evocative."

Known for connecting audiences to a profound sense of humanity, Alonzo King has collaborated with noted composers, musicians, and visual artists to create works that draw on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions, imbuing classical ballet with new expressive potential?"Gripping, urgently beautiful choreography." (San Francisco Chronicle).

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is a celebrated contemporary ballet company that has been guided since 1982 by the unique artistic vision of Alonzo King. Collaborating with noted composers, musicians, and visual artists from around the world, Alonzo King creates works that draw on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions, imbuing classical ballet with new expressive potential. Leading choreographer, William Forsythe, refers to Alonzo King as "one of the few, true Ballet Masters of our times". King understands ballet as a science-founded on universal, geometric principles of energy and evolution -and continues to develop a new language of movement from its classical forms and techniques-what the Los Angeles Times has described as "The most sophisticated modernism in classical dance."

LINES Ballet has been featured at venues such as the Venice Biennale, Monaco Dance Forum, Maison de la Dance, the Edinburgh Festival, Montpellier Danse, the Wolfsburg Festival, and the Holland Dance Festival. This past spring, the first full-length film of the Company's performances was released in Europe, inaugurating Alonzo King LINES Ballet's 30th Anniversary season.

Upcoming shows at Harris Center/Three Stages include Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, Friday-Sunday, September 20-22, Carmen Lundy, on Saturday, September 21 and Michael Grimm "Grimm's Fairytale Tour" on Sunday, September 22.
