Video: Carnegie Hall Celebrates 125 Years By Asking New Yorkers That Infamous Question

It's a classic joke that's been around for decades:

"How do you get to Carnegie Hall?"

"Practice... practice... practice..."

And for over a century, Carnegie Hall has made a practice of showcasing the finest musicians from around the world. It's where Arturo Toscanini conducted the New York Philharmonic. It's where Bill Haley and the Comets brought rock 'n' roll to New York and The Beatles brought the British Invasion to Manhattan. Broadway legends like Ethel Merman, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett and Barbara Cook all sang at Carnegie Hall, as did American music icons like Judy Garland and Paul Robeson. It's where an off-beat new comedian named Andy Kaufman invited his sold-out house to board school busses waiting outside after the show and join him for post-performance milk and cookies.

To help celebrate 2016 as the 125th anniversary of New York's historic concert hall, New Yorkers are asked that age-old question, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?"
