The Utah Symphony performs with Doc Severinsen, the trumpeter and bandleader for Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show, this weekend, September 26 and 27 in Abravanel Hall at 8 PM.

Since performing for thirty years on The Tonight Show, Doc Severinsen has traveled the country and toured the world, fusing big band, jazz and classical music. Mr. Severinsen is considered one of the greatest trumpeters and musicians of the last 60 years, respected in the worlds of classical music, jazz, big band, and now even world music. He has been playing the trumpet since he was five years old.

Joined by vocalists Vanessa Thomas and Joseph Wolverton, Mr. Severinsen will play trumpet as well as conduct the Utah Symphony through his iconic take on big band classics, Count Basie standards, and Latin Jazz. "I'm glad to be in the moment, and I'm thankful to be alive and to still be able to play the horn ... and to want to go out and do it," Mr. Severinsen has said in the past. "And as long as that's how I feel about it, that's what I'll be doing."

Doc Severinsen will be playing trumpet and conducting the Utah Symphony at the Val A. Browning Center in Ogden, Utah, on September 25, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.
