Trist Curless will perform in place of the late Tim Hauser, the founder of The Manhattan Transfer, at The Manhattan Transfer Christmas Show at Walt Disney Concert Hall tonight, December 16 at 8 PM.
A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Trist Ethan Curless is no stranger to vocal harmonies. He attended the University of North Colorado, majoring in music education. In 1995, he co-founded the pop-jazz vocal group m-pact, with which he has performed in festivals and concert halls around the world. He's also written, arranged, and produced many of the group's songs. Trist can be found on the other side of the microphone as well, working as an audio engineer for several vocal groups and bands, including Straight No Chaser, Pentatonix, and Take 6. When he's not performing or mixing, Trist also finds time to teach private voice lessons and to participate as a clinician and adjudicator in clinics and festivals worldwide.
The Manhattan Transfer issued the following statement:
We are all deeply saddened at the loss and passing of Mr. Tim Hauser on October 16th. As you know, Tim was the founder of The Manhattan Transfer, a phenomenal artist and musician. His family appreciates your support, love, and privacy at this time. Trist Curless will be performing in place of Tim Hauser for our WDCH date on December 16.
