To kick off their 8th season, Toy Box Theatre Company presents an adaptation of John Ford's 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, opening on September 26, 2009. The classic tragedy will be scored with live, original music by Brooklyn based rockers, Colonna Sonora. Performances will be at Teatro IATI, 64 E. 4th Street, New York, NY.

In a dark, paranoid world of explosive passions, a forbidden sibling love turns fatal in a power struggle among the rich and elite. There's comedy. There's incest. There's blood. Toy Box's sleek adaptation explores the boundaries of love and morality in a devout society where appearance and social status rule.

'Tis Pity She's a Whore is Toy Box Theatre Company's 9th full-scale production and their second adaptation of a classical work. Toy Box's previous productions have been awarded 'Excellence in Playwrighting' from The New York International Fringe Festival and 'Best Original Score' from The New York Innovative Theatre Awards.

Directed by Toy Box founder and co-artistic director Jonathan Barness, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore features Ron Bopst, John Buxton, Ryan Colwell, Sarah Hankins, David Michael Holmes, Andrew Krug, Michael Nathanson, Jessica Rothenberg, Zenon Zeleniuch and original music composed and performed by Colonna Sonora.

Opening Saturday, September 26th, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore will run for 11 performances through Friday, October 16th at Teatro IATI, 64 E. 4th St. Performances on September 26, October 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 14, 15, and 16th will be at 8 PM. Performances on September 27 and October 4 will be at 3 PM and will be followed by a champagne toast and talkback with the director, musicians, cast and crew. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door and can be reserved at toyboxtheatre.org.
