Single (non-subscription) tickets for the 2015-16 Season in Weill Hall at Sonoma State University's Green Music Center go on sale today, Monday, August 24, 2015 to MasterCard cardholders and Monday, August 31, 2015 to the general public. The 2015-16 MasterCard Performance Series in Weill Hall features 39 performances by world-class musicians spanning the genres of classical, chamber, vocal, keyboard, jazz and world music.
Special highlights of the MasterCard Performance Series include a Gala Opening Night concert by superstar pianist Lang Lang, performing Bach, Tchaikovsky and Chopin (Oct. 3) followed by a Sunday afternoon presentation of 101 Pianists, an educational event and concert presented in association with Lang Lang's International Music Foundation (Oct. 4); a recital by violinist Joshua Bell, performing Beethoven, Richard Strauss and Fauré (Oct. 17); and a joint appearance by jazz pianist Chick Corea and banjo master Béla Fleck (Apr. 21).
Binge-Worthy Journalism: Backstage with the Creators of SERIAL, Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder has just been added to Weill Hall lineup (Mar. 8) and 12-year-old jazz piano sensation Joey Alexander with his trio has been added to the Schroeder Cabaret Series in Schroeder Hall (Oct. 1).
On-Campus Presents, a programming series which promotes co-curricular and student life events for Sonoma State University students, announces musical, comedy and lecture performances in the 2015-16 Season including a Women in Leadership Lecture Series featuring professional soccer defender Christie Rampone (Oct. 13) and actress and advocate Laverne Cox (Nov.12); performances by indie pop band Lake Street Dive (Oct. 28), reggae rapper Matisyahu in An Intimate Evening with Matisyahu (Nov. 11); and an appearance by actor and stand-up comedian Nick Swardson (Apr. 26).

THE JOEY ALEXANDER TRIO, Thu., Oct. 1, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Schroeder Hall
An extraordinary and uniquely gifted pianist from Bali, 12-yea-old Joey Alexander taught himself to play piano by listening with his father to classic jazz albums. From there, his musical intuition flourished far beyond his years, as did his love of playing jazz. The world has taken notice of this phenomenal award-winning pianist with astonishing technique and soulful sound.
WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP: CHRISTIE RAMPONE, Tue., Oct. 13, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
The Women in Leadership Lecture Series brings influential women from diverse backgrounds to Sonoma State University to share insight and perspective on the changing role of women in leadership.
Christie Rampone is an American professional soccer defender and captain of the United States women's national soccer team. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion. Rampone is the oldest player to appear in a FIFA Women's World Cup game, and the second most capped player in U.S. and world history.
LAKE STREET DIVE, Wed., Oct. 28, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
In 2014, Rolling Stone named the Brooklyn-based Lake Street Dive as one of the "10 New Artists You Need to Know" and also named lead singer Rachael Price as "Best New Voice." With a unique sound blending Southern rock, jazz, indie pop, soul and folk, Lake Street Dive has toured around the globe and has been featured on The Colbert Report, The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH MATISYAHU, Wed., Nov. 11, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
Matisyahu fuses dancehall reggae, rap, beat boxing, ska-punk and hip-hop with elements of jazz scat-singing and Judaism's hazzan style of songful prayer. He gained international attention in 2005 with his Top 40 hit, "King Without a Crown" and in 2014 released his fifth studio album, Akeda, which shot to No. 6 on the iTunes charts within a week. Matisyahu describes the album as a "stripped back sound" and "less is more."
WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP: LAVERNE COX "Ain't I A Woman: My Journey to Womanhood", Thu., Nov. 12, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
The Women in Leadership Lecture Series brings influential women from diverse backgrounds to Sonoma State University to share insight and perspective on the changing role of women in leadership.
Laverne Cox is an Emmy-nominated actress who plays Sophia Burset in the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black. She is the first transgender woman of color to have a leading role in a mainstream television show. Cox is also a renowned speaker who takes her empowering message of moving beyond gender expectations and living more authentically to audiences across the country.
BINGE-WORTHY JOURNALISM: BACKSTAGE WITH THE CREATORS OF SERIAL, SARA KOENIG AND JULIE SNYDER, Tue., Mar. 8, 2016, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
After it launched in 2014, Serial became the fastest podcast to reach five million downloads in iTunes history. The podcast presented a 12-part series centering on one legal case, proving that slow-motion journalism could captivate and sustain its vast podcast listenership. In their live presentation, co-creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder take the audience backstage in the creation of this cultural phenomenon. Using some of their favorite tape, they'll tell personal behind-the-scenes stories and allow the audience to follow the ups and downs of creating a new form of modern journalism.
NICK SWARDSON, Tue., Apr. 26, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Weill Hall
Nick Swardson is the latest comedian to emerge as a triple threat: comedian, actor and writer/producer. Perhaps best known for his recurring role as Terry Bernadino in the comedy series Reno 911!, Swardson also hosted and starred in his own sketch comedy series, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time. A regular at the Comic Strip, Caroline's and Luna Lounge in New York City, he has appeared many times on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
