October 29, 2013 - Richmond, Virginia Rush Hour concerts are back for their second season at The Richmond Symphony! One-hour long Rush Hour concerts are a great way to experience live music in an informal and relaxed smaller setting.

Join us on Thursday, November 21 - 6:30 pm for Copland: Clarinet Concerto with clarinetist Ralph Skiano and conductor Steven Smith. Held in the Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage, this concert is conveniently downtown and is a great event for those new to the orchestra experience, as well as for the most die-hard listeners. October 29, 2013 - Richmond, Virginia The Richmond Symphony announces Copland: Clarinet Concerto, the second Metro Collection concert of the 2013-2014 season!

Join us in Ashland, VA on Sunday, November 24 - 3pm at Randolph-Macon College's Blackwell Auditorium for an intimate and engaging chamber orchestra concert. Hear works by Kraus, Copland, Ives, and Dvor?a?k performed live under the baton of Maestro Steven Smith by the talented musicians of the Richmond Symphony. Joining the Orchestra will be featured soloist and principal clarinetist of the RSO, Ralph Skiano. Steven Smith will lead a pre- concert talk at 2pm, one hour before the concert.

About the Richmond Symphony

Founded in 1957, the Richmond Symphony is the largest performing arts organization in Central Virginia. The organization includes an orchestra of more than 70 professional musicians, the 150-voice Richmond Symphony Chorus and more than 200 students in the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra programs. Each season, more than 250,000 members of the community enjoy concerts, radio broadcasts, and educational outreach programs. The Richmond Symphony is partially funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

About Ralph Skiano

Ralph Skiano was appointed principal clarinetist of the Richmond Symphony in 2002 and in 2006, principal clarinetist of the Des Moines Metro Opera. In addition, he also performs with the Richmond Ballet and the Virginia Opera. Other orchestral appearances have included the Cincinnati Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, the Kentucky

Symphony, and the Washington Opera. In 2010, Ralph was also appointed principal clarinetist of the Williamsburg Symphonia.

An avid chamber musician, Ralph is a member of the Fessenden Ensemble in Washington DC and has founded the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble in Richmond VA.
