ABOUT THE RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLES
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) give advanced woodwind, brass and percussion students from Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut an outstanding opportunity to rehearse and perform high quality wind ensemble repertoire. Under the leadership of Music Director Eric Hewitt, RIPYWE offers these students a challenging and rewarding musical experience. The Junior ensemble, for grades 6-10 and conducted by Dr. David Neves, performs repertoire in varied styles to challenge the advancing wind, brass, and percussion player. The Senior ensemble, for grades 9-12 and conducted by Eric Hewitt, performs traditional and modern wind ensemble works in an advanced wind ensemble setting.
RIPYWE's ensembles are two of the many ensemble opportunities provided by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. The Philharmonic Music School's ensemble programs - which include youth orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles and chamber music ensembles - have provided quality rehearsal and performance experiences for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut for nearly 60 years. Our professional conducting staff is committed to providing the best musical and educational experiences for each student.
