Foot in the Door is a mixed ensemble of musicians whose repertoire includes music of established and emerging 20th- and 21st-century composers. Named for the autobiography of principal Hartt benefactor Alfred C. Fuller, who gained worldwide fame as the founder of the Fuller Brush Company and who always had to get a "foot in the door" as he pitched his merchandise door-to-door to potential customers, members play in a variety of ensemble sizes from small chamber groups to large chamber orchestras. Their name reflects the pluck, ingenuity, and perseverance our students bring to the task of promulgating new music, of all genres and types, to the wider world.
