The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras (CSOYO) concludes their 2013-2014 season on May 5 at 7 pm at the Tivoli Theatre featuring all four orchestras and featured soloists, including Justin Smith, Oboist, and Isabella Vanderhoof, PAL Vocal Competition winner.
There is definitely something for everyone in this concert, from Star Trek to Mahler, and a great variety of musical styles in between! There is a (timely) folk song from Ukraine, a lovely melody by Puccini (an all-time favorite of many), a very descriptive musical rendition of an American legend (John Henry), and an amazing performance of the final movement of Mahler's 1st Symphony, a virtuosic tour de force for any youth orchestra.
The CSOYO Prelude and Etude Orchestras, conducted by Nichole Pitts, will open the concert. Following them will be the CSOYO Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sandy Morris. The program (with no intermission) will conclude with the CSOYO Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gary Wilkes.
