October 5, 2014 is opening night for the Canton Symphony Orchestra's (CSO) 2014-2015 MasterWorks Series. The concert, titled "American Mosaic", features music by American composers John Corigliano, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Howard Hanson and Dudley Buck. "This is what it is all about - the music, the performers and the audience. This facility allows us to enhance the experience for everyone involved," he stated. "It's an All-American program, with an All-American orchestra, in an All-American city. What a wonderful way to start our season!" To continue the celebration, the orchestra will host a free post-concert party at the Z for all audience members.
The program includes pieces that will engage the vocal talents of guest soloists soprano Allison Pohl, baritone Britt Cooper, the Canton Symphony Chorus and Walsh University Chorale. The vocalists will join the orchestra on Copland's Simple Gifts, Bernstein's Take Care of this House and Make (Our) Garden Grow, and Hanson's Song of Democracy.
