The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Presents RUSTY MUSICIANS Tonight

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces the annual Rusty Musicians tonight, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. (Group 1) and 7:50 p.m. (Group 2) at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. This event gives non-professional instrumental musicians the ability to play side-by-side with a world-class orchestra. Under the direction of BSO Assistant Conductor Nicholas Hersh, un-auditioned string, brass, wind and percussion instrumentalists will participate in reading sessions of selections from Rimsky-Korsakov's "Polonaise" from Christmas Eve and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 ("Winter Dreams") and The Nutcracker. The cost for each participant is $90 for past participants and $65 for new participants; attendance to the concert event is free and open to the public. Initiated in 2010, the unique Rusty Musicians program celebrates the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's vibrant relationship with the community and all musicians. As part of the BSO Academy programs, these opportunities for adult amateur musicians include the one-night Rusty Musicians, day-long Instrument Clinics and the weeklong BSO Academy held each summer. As one participant described the on?stage experience with the BSO, "It is like jumping inside of a painting or work of art you have admired for years."

COMPLETE REGISTRATION DETAILS:
To register, visit BSOmusic.org and fill out the online form. Participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is encouraged to ensure a spot.

• Participants must be 21 or older.
• Orchestral instrumentalists should be able to read music and play an instrument that is part of the standard orchestra instrumentation.
• Online registration is now open.
• Participants must submit a non-refundable participation fee at the time of registration ($90. Special New Rusty Participation Fee is $65).
• Acceptance will be confirmed via email.
