Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Presents KICKSTART YOUR SUMMER Today

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra joins WRCJ 90.9 FM and the Detroit Public Schools Foundation for KICKSTART YOUR SUMMER today, May 17, from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will take place at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E. Warren Avenue in Detroit. It features continuous live entertainment, a Kids' Fun Room, including an Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Instrument Petting Zoo. Instrument Petting Zoo is all about hands-on fun with instruments. Children have the chance to get up close and personal with the orchestral instruments they see professionally played on stage.

? Saturday, May 17: WRCJ Kickstart your Summer at the Charles Wright Museum in Detroit, 10 am - 3 pm

? Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24 and 25: DPTV's Kids Club Live at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 9 am - 5 pm

? Thursday, June 26: Kidzone Tent at Ann Arbor Summer Festival's Top of the Park, 5 pm -8 pm

? Saturday, June 28: State Street Association's Kids Day, 11 am - 3 pm

? Monday, July 14: Ann Arbor Art Fair Townie Street Party, 5 pm - 9 pm

? Thursday, August 28: Saline Community Fair, 9 am - 12pm

WRCJ-FM, Detroit's "Classical Days, Jazzy Nights" public radio station will broadcast live from the event with on-air personalities Dave Wagner (10 am to 12:30 pm) and Chris Felcyn (12:30 pm to 3 pm). Live entertainment will be provided by musicians from the Detroit Children's Choir, Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, Motor City Brass Band, Macomb Symphony Orchestra, Urban Stringz, Our Own Thing and others. In addition, representatives will be on hand from the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Public Schools, Detroit Public TV, Michigan Opera Theatre, Michigan Science Center, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Hummingbirds Music Together, Motor City Music Together, Detroit Public Library, MSU Community Music School-Detroit, PuppetART Theatre, Living Arts, The Carr Center, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Pro-Musica, AVANTI, Detroit Institute of Music Education, U of M College of Engineering, the Greening of Detroit, Arts & Scraps and others. Families will also be able to sample tasty food from Grosse Pointe's Fresh Farms Market.
