Sarasota Orchestra to Launch Masterworks Season with Dvorak & Mahler

The Sarasota Orchestra will begin its Masterworks series by performing works by Antonin Dvorak and Gustav Mahler.

The concert begins with Dvorak's Cello Concerto. Dvorak became inspired to write his Cello concerto during his short time in America. It was his last major symphonic work. Guest cellist Adolfo Gutierrez Arenas will perform Dvorak's Cello Concerto. Arenas began playing the cello at 14 and is now considered the most influential international Spanish cellist of today

The concert ends with Mahler's Symphony No. 5 which will feature the Sarasota Orchestra brass section.

Performances run November 10, 2017 at 8 p.m., November 11, 2017 at 8 p.m. and November 12, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Tickets from $33. Call the box office at (941) 953 3434, or visit www.SarasotaOrchestra.org to purchase tickets.
