YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (RIPYO) will present their final concert of the season on Saturday, May 7 at 3:00pm at Roberts Hall, Rhode Island College. The concert will feature the top-level Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Alexey Shabalin, Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Vincent Mattera, String Orchestra under the direction of Irina Naryshkova and the Intermediate String Ensemble and String Ensemble under the direction of Erin Quinton Erban. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available through the Rhode Island College box office http://www.ric.edu/pfa/orderinfo.php or 401-456-8144.
The Symphony Orchestra features one of the RI Philharmonic Concerto & Aria CompetitionCo-Winners: Faares Deeb (cello). The Symphony's program will include the first movement of Haydn's "Cello Concerto No.1 in C Major", Touafek's "About Us - A Symphonic Poem" and movements from Brahms' "Hungarian Dances". Repertory Orchestra, String Orchestra, Intermediate String Ensemble and Beginning String Ensemble will perform standard classical repertoire.
RIPYO provides quality orchestral rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Students range in age from elementary school through high school. YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLES
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) will present their final concert of the season Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 pm at Sapinsley Hall, Rhode Island College. The concert will include RIPYWE Senior Division, under the direction of Eric Hewitt, and RIPYWE Junior Division, under the direction of David Neves. RIPYWE Senior performs Whitacre's "October", Prokofiev's "March, Op. 99" and select movements from Shostakovich's "Symphony No. 9". RIPYWE Junior performs works by Grundman, Silvestri, Grainger, Blocher, and Heiden.

ABOUT THE RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC MUSIC SCHOOL
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School is the state's first and only community music school. The Music School encourages lifelong engagement with music through comprehensive music education and community partnership programs taught by orchestra members and other outstanding faculty. The Philharmonic Music School serves students of all ages and ability levels, and provides instruction in all kinds of music, from jazz and rock to classical and folk, through private lessons, chamber music classes, and large and small ensembles. More than 70 dedicated teachers comprise the faculty, many with degrees from some of the finest music schools in the world. The majority of Philharmonic Music School programs take place at the state-of-the-art Carter Center in East Providence. Completed in 2008, the Carter Center is the largest dedicated community music school facility in New England. We also offer lessons in a welcoming, well equipped environments at our East Greenwich Branch.
