Plácido Domingo announced today that he will conduct a performance of Rossini's Petite messe solennelle in honor of his sister, Maria José Domingo de Fernandez, who recently passed away. The performance will be held on September 28, 2015 at 7:30PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

"My sister was a remarkable woman who loved music as much as I do and I miss her tremendously," said Mr. Domingo. "She was always thinking of others and putting everyone else first. To honor her in the best way that I can-through music-I will present this performance of Petite messe solennelle as a tribute to her life and spirit. I invite the public to come and help me celebrate my dear Mari Pepa."

The Colburn Orchestra, comprised of students and alumni of the Colburn Conservatory of Music, has volunteered to play for the performance, which will feature four soloists from LA Opera's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program and an independently contracted chorus of 24 singers.

The doors to the Cathedral, located at 555 West Temple Street in downtown Los Angeles, will open at 7:00PM.
