Pittsburgh Symphony Presents Inaugural Performance at Musikfest Berlin - Streaming Live Today

As part of their European tour, Manfred Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will give the inaugural performance at this year's Musikfest Berlin today, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. EST.

The concert with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter at the Philharmonie Berlin can be seen live online on arteliveweb.com and on the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Web site (pittsburghsymphony.org/berlin2013).

The complete concert will be available for three weeks; the orchestral works will stay online for six months in the archive of ARTE Live Web and on the Web sites of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra andAmerican Public Media.

The program will feature:

Janá?ek: Suite for string orchestra

Lutos?awski: Chain II, Dialogue for violin and orchestra
Strauss: Ein Heldenleben

The streaming is produced by the Digital Concert Hall. The Digital Concert Hall is the virtual concert venue of the Berliner Philharmoniker on the Internet.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's European Tour begins with two concerts at the Grafenegg Festival on 29 and 30 August 20 and 30. On September 3, they will be making their debut at the George Enescu Festival Bucharest. Concerts will also take place in Paris (September 6), Düsseldorf (September 7) and Frankfurt am Main (September 8), as well as to the Lucerne Festival (September 10/11) and the Beethovenfest Bonn (September 12/14).
