Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC), the region's principal community chorus, presents three Around the World Christmas concerts, each at 7:30 pm, on Friday, December 2 at Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough; Saturday, December 3 at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth; and Sunday, December 4 at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury. The chorus is conducted by Music Director William B. Richter and accompanied by Assistant Director Elizabeth Chapman Reilly.
Around the World Christmas is a musical journey exploring the diverse Christmas music throughout the world. From the glorious medieval processional, Gaudete, to one of the loveliest motets of the Renaissance, O Magnum Mysterium, the program includes carols old and new from many different countries, and some of the exciting and joyous carols from Africa, South America, and the West Indies. This musical tour kindles holiday lovers' appetites for all the music they'll enjoy during this celebrated season.
Since 1999, PFC has delighted South Shore audiences with classical programming. The group of over 70 vocalists of all adult ages is dedicated to authentic choral singing. In addition to the winter concert, PFC generally presents a major choral work each spring, an annual Messiah Sing in December, and summer concerts with pops-style programming.Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for senior citizens and $15.00 for students over 14. Children under the age of 14 are admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased online at www.pilgrimfestivalchorus.org; and from PFC members.
