On Tuesday, May 24, philanthropists, artists, musicians and others gathered together at the Edison Ballroom in Times Square to celebrate music, theatre and dance, and recognize community members who have made exceptional contributions to the world of music education at the 2016 Kaufman Music Center (KMC) Gala.
Among the attendees were David Robertson, world-class conductor and director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, who received Kaufman's Creative Arts Award, Mary Lou Falcone, one of the most highly regarded behind-the-scenes figures in the classical music industry, and Solanga Laundau, former KMC trustee, who received the Patron Award for her outstanding dedication and commitment to the Center. The gala benefitted KMC's Fund for Music Education, which helps thousands of children access high-level instruction in music, theater and dance.
