On Monday, November 12 at the Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street), Gerald Schoenfeld, Board Chairman of The Shubert Organization and The Shubert Foundation, received the Joan Warburg Humanitarian Award from The Acting Company. Legendary producer Edgar Lansbury was presented with the John Houseman Award honoring his commitment to the development of classical actors and a national audience for the theater.
Guests in attendance included Robert Cuccioli, Tyne Daly, Clive Davis, Dana Ivey, Marthe Keller, Jack Klugman, Emily Fisher Landau, Angela Lansbury, David Lansbury, Hamish Linklater, Lark Mason, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Enid Nemy, Heather Randall, Don Scardino, David Schramm, Marian Seldes, David Steiner and Sylvia Steiner.
Bernadette Peters gave a special performance in honor of Schoenfeld. Founded 35 years ago by Houseman and current Producing Artistic Director, Margot Harley, The Acting Company has won Obie's, Audelcos and a special Tony award – presenting 127 productions on and off-Broadway and touring all across America. Proceeds of the evening benefit the Company's Literacy Through Theater education programs for students in disadvantaged schools.
