The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra announces that music director Jacques Lacombe plans to step down from the position when his contract is up at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Lacombe has been the ensemble's music director since 2010. He said in a statement that he was leaving the orchestra in August of 2016 because his international engagements conducting operas and orchestras were demanding more of his time. "I look forward to two more exciting seasons with the orchestra," he said.

The orchestra's search for its next music director would begin this season.
