NY Philharmonic Ensembles Give First Concert Of The New Year At Merkin Concert Hall 1/10/2010

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of Musicians from the Orchestra, will give its third performance of the 2009-10 season on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. The program - the first of the New Year - will comprise Mozart's Sonata for Violin and Bass in F major; Piston's Duo for Viola and Cello; Moszkowski's Suite for Two Violins and Piano, Op. 71; David Winkler's Piano Quartet; and Turina's Piano Trio No. 1.

The musicians will be Duoming Ba, Hanna Lachert, Anna Rabinova, and Yulia Ziskel, violin; Dorian Rence and Robert Rinehart, viola; Eric Bartlett and Qiang Tu, cello; Satoshi Okamoto, bass; and Tatiana Goncharova* and Hélène Jeanney*, piano.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles concerts are funded, in part, by the Zubin Mehta Fund for the Orchestra, an endowment fund created to honor the accomplishments of the Philharmonic's former Music Director, Zubin Mehta.
