Music Mountain, America's Oldest Continuing Summer Chamber Music Festival, concludes its 86th Anniversary Season on Sunday, September 27 (3pm) with Amernet String Quartet performing Haydn, Bartok, and Tchaikovsky with guest artists Vivek Kamath, Viola and Edward Arron, Cello. This remarkable season was one of Music Mountain's longest, featuring over a dozen string quartets, multiple guest artists, favorite local jazz bands, and the first season of the Distinguished Artist Recital Series.

Nicholas Gordon, Music Mountain longtime president said "the 86th season was a wonderful combination of great music, great artists, and for the first time since the 1930", great teaching, under the direction of our new musical director, Jonathan Yates."

"The 2016 season, our 87th, will promise a continued combination of extraordinary artists and wonderful music and an even greater concentration on teaching in accordance with our basic mission of education and performance of the string quartet literature" .

The final chamber concert of the summer will feature the Amernet String Quartet performing Haydn: String Quartet in D Minor, Opus 76 No. 2; Bartok: String Quartet No. 3, Sz. 85; and Tchaikovsky: Souvenir of Florence, String Sextet in D Minor, Opus 70. Vivek Kamath, Viola and Edward Arron, Cello are guest artists.

Praised for their "intelligence" and "immensely satisfying" playing by the New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet has garnered recognition as one of today's exceptional string quartets. Their sound has been called "complex" but with an "old world flavor." The ensemble actively advocates for neglected works of the past and aims to enliven the concert experience through its innovative programming. The Amernet String Quartet's current season includes tours throughout Europe and Latin America, as well as the premieres of several new works for quartet, and return engagements throughout the US and Israel. They are currently the Ensemble-in-Residence Florida International University in Miami.

Vivek Kamath is a violist with the New York Philharmonic. He has appeared as soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Kamath has performed at the Marlboro, Ravinia, Sarasota, Blossom, and Bowdoin festivals.
