Murder Mystery Blues, a play based on the short stories of Woody Allen featuring original live jazz, will play 59E59 Theaters from November 24 - December 31.  Opening night is set for November 30.

The play, previously a hit in London, is adapted from the short stores of Woody Allen and directed by Janey Clarke with original jazz music by Warren Wills and lyrics by Clarke.

"Set in the world of 1940's film noir New York, Murder Mystery Blues is based on a series of short stories written for The New Yorker by Woody Allen. When hard-bitten gumshoe Kaiser Lupowitz (in a nod to Raymond Chandler) is hired by a curvaceous brunette to find the elusive 'Mr. Big,' a series of quirky New York stories come to vibrant life," state notes.

The play originated in London at The Warehouse Theater, under the titleWoody Allen's Murder Mysteries, where it played to sold-out houses and critical acclaim.

The cast of six features acclaimed singer Mary Fahl, former lead singer of the band October Project, who recently released her first solo album on Sony Classical and Andromeda Turre, who is currently performing with JC Hopkins Biggish Band and toured with Ray Charles.  The cast members, including Stephanie Dodd, Jeff Ganz, Alex Haven and Michael Murray, are also musicians who play the jazz score.

The performance schedule is Tuesday -Friday at 8:00 PM; Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; Sunday at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  Performances are in Theater A at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison).  Single tickets are $45 ($31.50 for 59E59 members) and are available by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or online at www.ticketcentral.com.
