Millersville University's Department of Music has a concert each day during the weekend of Friday, February 27 through Sunday, March 1 offering musical entertainment for the community to enjoy. The weekend includes Millersville University's Orchestra featuring local competition winners on Friday, February 27 at 7:30 pm at the Ware Center located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. Followed by two concerts at the Winter Center, located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville on Saturday, February 28 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 1 at 2:30 pm. Saturday's concert features Dr. Christy Banks, an Associate Professor of Music at Millersville University, for a "Devilishly Fun Single Reed Concert" and on Sunday, the weekend rounds out with the Wind Band Composition Award Winners featuring Millersville's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.

Friday's Orchestra Concert titled, The Winners Circle, will feature great master works performed by the Millersville University Orchestra featuring the winner of the Louis Vyner scholarship competition, Lancaster International Piano Competition, and Violin Festival Competition. The Orchestra will be conducted by Millersville faculty member, Dr. Vera Volchansky. The repertoire will include Prometheus Overture by Beethoven, and many more. The Orchestra will collaborate with two local competition winning piano soloists, Ms. Anke Pan, who will be arriving to Lancaster from Germany and Ms. Sharon Ho, winner of the 2014 Louis Vyner Competition. The Louis Vyner Award, named in honor of the late founder and first conductor of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in Performance, was established in 1980 to provide scholarships for outstanding music majors at Millersville University. The award recognizes student excellence in musical performance, including conducting. This concert takes place at the Ware Center in Downtown Lancaster.

On Saturday, join Dr. Christy Banks for a devilishly fun, fiendishly delightful night of clarinet and saxophone music. Dr. Christy Banks performs works that attracts tricksters, imps, free spirits, jokers, and pop-music influenced demons. Banks' performance is something that contemporary audiences will appreciate. Amongst the eight pieces are four by Pennsylvania composers -- Simon Andrews, Rusty Banks, Daniel Dorff, and Richard Belcastro. This concert takes place at the Winter Center on campus in Millersville.

And on Sunday, enjoy Millersville University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble for an afternoon composed of pieces written by Award Winners from these Four Major Composition Competitions- William D. Revelli, Walter Beeler, Sousa/Oswald and Merrill Jones. This concert is also at the Winter Center in Millersville.
