The League of American Orchestras Board of Directors has elected Angelo M. Fatta as Chair Elect. Dr. Fatta will assume this position in June 2013 and will hold it until June 2014, when his election to succeed Lowell J. Noteboom as Chair will take place.

Brent Assink, executive director of the San Francisco Symphony, chairs the League's Governance Committee. "We are delighted to be putting such a strong succession plan in place a full year in advance," Assink said. "Ange Fatta has proven to be a strong and collaborative leader on our board, and we are already benefitting from his deep knowledge of orchestras and their needs."

Said League President and CEO Jesse Rosen, "Ange Fatta's leadership of the Buffalo Philharmonic board was instrumental in ushering in a new level of fiscal stability and community support, and he has been a great partner to the BPO's music director, executive director, and musicians. The League is fortunate to have found such a gifted successor to Lowell Noteboom, whose continued leadership over the coming year will ensure a smooth handover in 2014."

A passionate orchestra supporter, Dr. Fatta has been a member of the League board since October 2011, and serves as chair of its Marketing and Membership Development Committee. A former chair of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra's board of trustees, he guided the orchestra through a successful turnaround after 9/11. As chair of the orchestra's Secure the Future endowment campaign, he was instrumental in galvanizing community support so that the campaign not only met but surpassed its $30 million goal.

The co-founder and CEO of ACTS Testing Labs, a global consumer products testing company specializing in toy safety, Dr. Fatta led ACTS from a small start-up operation in 1973, to an organization of over 700 employees in six countries in 1998, when he sold the company. In 2009, he founded ANSECO Group, a consumer products testing laboratory specializing in toys, children's products, and simple hardlines. Dr. Fatta now oversees the company's Buffalo and Hong Kong laboratories, providing strategic direction to the company. He is globally recognized for his expertise in toy and consumer products safety.

Dr. Fatta is immediate past chair of the University at Buffalo Foundation, and was honored with UB's President's Medal in 2012 for his service to the university and community. He was appointed to the State University of New York Board of Trustees by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2012. He has served on the boards of Canisius College, Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, Cradle Beach Camp, and the Buffalo Transportation/Pierce Arrow Museum. Dr. Fatta and his family support the welfare and development of children in western New York through their philanthropic organization, the Fatta Foundation. He has been a major force in the promotion of life sciences discoveries and technology commercialization in western New York through numerous volunteer leadership roles.

Dr. Fatta holds a B.S. in chemistry from Canisius College and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Wayne State University, and was a post-doctoral fellow at The Pennsylvania State University.
