Launching its 30th Anniversary Season and celebrating one of its own, Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC) presents rising opera star/noted alumna Lauren Libaw ('05) in recital tonight, September 19, 2015, 7 pm, at Zipper Hall.

Libaw, a soprano praised for her sparkling, "bright-toned" voice (New York Times) as well as her "warmth of tone and intensity of expression" (The New Yorker), performs an array of art songs and arias with accompanist Dan Schlosberg, and also sings Mozart's "Laudate Dominum" from the Vespers, considered one of the most beautiful arias ever written, with members of LACC's Chamber Singers. The audience is invited to a post-performance reception with Libaw. Proceeds benefit LACC.

Libaw's recent engagements include Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi for Lidal North at the Norwegian National Opera, The Messiah for the Paris Choral Society and recitals in Aix-en-Provence, Brussels, Florence, London, Los Angeles, New York and Paris. She made her professional debut at the Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels and has sung at the Opéra Royal de Versailles and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. She is a graduate of Yale University, where she sang leading roles and won the university's concerto and recital competitions, the Selden, Blake and Bach academic prizes and the Sudler Prize for the Arts. She is also an alumna of the Aspen Music Festival Opera Theater Center, the Atélier Lyrique Opéra Fuoco in Paris, the Accademia Lirica di Canto Simone Alaimo in Palermo, the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Libaw, a citizen of both Italy and the United States, Libaw is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Royal College of Music, London.
