The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Classical KUSC continue their annual radio broadcast partnership, reaching over half a million listeners in Southern and Central California. The 13 concerts, recorded during the LA Phil's 2012/13 season, feature the orchestra with an impressive roster of guest artists and conductors. The first broadcast features Gustavo Dudamel leading the LA Phil in Ravel's Pavane for a Dead Princess, the world premiere of Steven Stucky's Symphony and Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and airs locally on KUSC-FM 91.5 Los Angeles, Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 7 PM.

Other series highlights include performances by noted soloists: pianists Leif Ove Andsnes, Simon Trp?eski, David Fray, Orli Shaham, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Lang Lang; baritone Gerald Finley; cellists Joshua Roman and Gautier Capuçon; violist Carrie Dennis; hyper-accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman; and percussionist Jamey Haddad. Guest conductors include: Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, Marin Alsop, Vasily Petrenko, Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit, David Robertson, and Lionel Bringuier. The series includes the very first broadcast of Creative Chair John Adams' new work The Gospel According to the Other Mary conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and directed by Peter Sellars, featuring soloists Kelley O'Connor, Tamara Mumford, Russell Thomas, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Interviews and features with soloists and orchestra members are heard throughout the series, offering unique insights and giving listeners a more in-depth perspective. Brian Lauritzen is the producer and host for the series. "I am delighted to continue Classical KUSC's long partnership with the LA Philharmonic by bringing these exhilarating performances to the airwaves of Southern California," says Lauritzen. "This broadcast series is an opportunity to bring the concert hall into your living room. These diverse programs are a showcase for the dynamic virtuosity of the LA Philharmonic and Music Director Gustavo Dudamel."

"As we approach the 10th anniversary of Walt Disney Concert Hall, the LA Philharmonic continues to offer more innovative and exciting programming than any other major American orchestra," says KUSC Executive Producer Gail Eichenthal. "With Gustavo Dudamel on the podium, the musical chemistry is intoxicating. I am thrilled to share these incredible performances with our listeners."

"Our long-time partnership with KUSC helps to broaden the LA Phil audience and highlight the spectacular performances that happen at Walt Disney Concert Hall," says Deborah Borda, President of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. "We are extremely grateful to KUSC and to County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky for making these broadcasts possible."
Additional coverage areas include KDSC-FM 91.1 Thousand Oaks, KQSC-FM 88.7 Santa Barbara, KPSC-FM 88.5 Palm Springs, and KESC-FM 99.7 Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo.
