Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) announced today the appointment of Kristo Kondakci as assistant conductor. Kristo previously served as a valued part of the LO team as Artistic Fellow in summer 2014, organizing the neighborhood Instrument Playgrounds and other community activities.

"We're thrilled to welcome Kristo Kondakci as Assistant Conductor, as he succeeds the talented Ben Vickers in this role," says Music Director Christopher Wilkins. "The duties of this position seem to grow every year, and we will all benefit from Kristo's enormous gifts as conductor, arranger, teacher and organizer. His kindheartedness and sense of fun will support all of our projects well, especially those serving children."

As Assistant Conductor, Kristo's role includes acting as a 'second set of ears' for Music Director/Conductor Christopher Wilkins at rehearsals and performances, leading junior choir rehearsals, coordinating education and outreach initiatives including the One City Choir, and leading the 'Maestro Zone' at LO concerts.

Dynamic and versatile across a variety of musical fields, Kristo Kondakci has been called a rising young conductor. Based in Boston, MA, he has been praised for his work on the reconstruction of the original version of Mahler's 1st Symphony by the Boston Globe, WGBH, and the Boston Musical Intelligencer. Recent performances include a debut with the Albanian National Orchestra, with which Kristo will continue to appear as principal guest conductor in upcoming seasons, and concerts with the Eureka Orchestra, a new group he has founded to promote music accessibility for all through concerts and interactive outreach events.

Kristo holds a Master's Degree in Conducting as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Composition from New England Conservatory, and graduated from the prestigious Boston College High School. At the NEC, Kristo was named a Beneficent Society Scholar (2013), hailed as NEC's Scholarship Star (2012), and was awarded the Composition Department prize at the Preparatory Division in 2009.
