Jonathan Tortolano & Ronee Noyce to Offer French-Russian Program at Saint Michael's, 6/28

A concert of music by French and Russian composers will be presented on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall, McCarthy Arts Center at Saint Michael's College. Pianist Ronee Boyce and cellist Jonathan Tortolano will perform sonatas by Debussy and Shostakovich as well as compositions by Faure and Rachmaninov.

Cellist Tortolano, a U.S. and Canadian citizen, has Vermont roots, including Mount Mansfield High School and the Vermont Youth Symphony. He is on the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, principal cello of the Erie Philharmonic, Green Mountain Opera and Washington Concert Opera, associate principal cello of the Pittsburgh Opera and assistant principal cello in the Binghamton Philharmonic. He has been part of productions of CATS for Theatre Aquarius and Drayton Entertainment, as well as for Annie with Drayton. He was a member of Quatour Prima Vista and Quartet Metropolis as well as The Gulbenkian Orchestra in Europe. He lives in Toronto with his wife, Janetta Wilczewska and daughter Fabia.

Award-winning pianist Ronee Boyce quickly has established herself as an artist of intense musical sensibility with a dedication to performance and education. Reviews have praised her depth of musical interpretation. In addition to performing more traditional solo piano and chamber music she has demonstrated a keen interest in Russian works along with more innovative and lesser-known music repertoire, often introducing such works to audiences in concert. Recent solo engagements have included recitals and concert appearances in Toronto, Ottawa, New York City, London, France, Spain and the Caribbean, with special chamber music appearances at the Toronto Centre for Performing Arts, Theatre de Bourg, Maison de l'Europe, Maison du Canada, with L'Heure Musicale in France, and an invitation to perform for the Ambassador of Chile.

The concert is free and open to the public.
