Jennifer Barlament Named New General Manager of Cleveland Orchestra

Executive Director Gary Hanson has announced that Jennifer Barlament has been appointed General Manager of The Cleveland Orchestra. Mr. Hanson said, "It is a great pleasure to welcome Jennifer Barlament to the staff of The Cleveland Orchestra. She comes to Northeast Ohio with more than 10 years of experience as a highly successful orchestra executive. Jennifer's strong musical background and record of achievement are among the terrific portfolio of skills and talent she will bring to us."

Jennifer Barlament joined the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra in 2009 as Executive Director. In this role, she has served as the organization's chief administrator, with responsibility for board relations, fundraising, marketing, concert planning and operations, finances, and education. From 2002 to 2009, she served as the general manager of the Omaha Symphony. Ms. Barlament participated in the Orchestra Management Fellowship Program of the League of American Orchestras in 1998. Following the fellowship, she served the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as director of special projects and was then appointed concert manager of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Barlament was the 2013 recipient of the Orchestra League's Helen M. Thompson Award for extraordinary achievement and commitment in the field of orchestra management.

Jennifer Barlament earned her bachelor's degree in music with a minor in physics at Emory University, where she was awarded numerous prizes for both music and academic performance. She earned a master's degree in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she also founded the New Eastman Symphony.

Jennifer Barlament begins her duties in Cleveland on Monday, September 23. Previous Cleveland Orchestra General Managers include Gary Ginstling, President and CEO of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Jonathan Martin, President and CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
