James Feddeck and Augustin Hadelich Join Atlanta Symphony Tonight

Guest conductor James Feddeck will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in Schubert's Third Symphony tonight, February 6, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. and February 8, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Mr. Feddeck will also lead the ASO in Elgar's captivating musical portrait of his closest friends, Enigma Variations.

Violinist Augustin Hadelich will join the Orchestra for Paganini's First Violin Concerto, which requires daredevil technique and fearlessness from the player. These performances will mark Mr. Hadelich's second appearance with the ASO.

Tickets are $24-$75 and are available at aso.org/hadelich.

On Friday, February 7, 2014, Mr. Feddeck will lead the ASO in an abbreviated version of the subscription weekend's performances as part of the Orchestra's "First Friday" concert series. The concert will feature Elgar's Enigma Variations and Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 with Mr. Hadelich. Schubert's Third Symphony will not be included on the program.

This concert is the second of five "First Friday" classical concerts to be held at 6:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall. These concerts last approximately one hour without intermission, and all tickets are $25.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive to the Woodruff Arts Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. for drink specials and light fare in soundstage - the Arts Center's new "pop-up" nightlife scene. Soundstage is open on the first Friday of every month and allows guests to enjoy food, drinks, and good company in a relaxed environment. In addition, guests can take pleasure in live music, improv comedy, and spoken word performances created by the artists of the Atlanta Symphony, ALLIANCE THEATRE, and more.

It is not required to have a ticket to a Symphony Hall or ALLIANCE THEATRE performance in order to access soundstage. Entry is free and open to the general public. Drinks and a selection of tapas will be available for purchase. The full-service bar will be open from 5:00 p.m. until midnight, with live programming occurring between 8:00 p.m. and midnight.

SCHUBERT Symphony No. 3 In August of 1814, Franz Schubert completed his ten-month teacher training course at the Normalhauptschule in Vienna.

PAGANINI Violin Concerto No. 1 The Italian violinist Nicolo? Paganini was one of the greatest and most charismatic virtuosos of all time.

ELGAR Enigma Variations The premiere of Edward Elgar's "Enigma" Variations took place at St. James's Hall in London on June 19, 1899.

James Feddeck is currently in his fourth season as Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra. In addition to his duties as Assistant Conductor.

Last season violinist Augustin Hadelich made his debut with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood in August, playing the Barber Violin Concerto.
