Idris Ackamoor and Kenneth Nash to Co-Direct Healing Force Community Orchestra, Oct 2013

World-renowned composers and performers Idris Ackamoor & Kenneth Nash will co-direct the HEALING FORCE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA in organized, spontaneous, improvised and prepared works performed at United Nations Plaza, Potrero del Sol Park, and the African American Art & Culture Complex during the month of October 2013.

The concerts and workshops are supported by the James Irvine foundation and their Exploring Engagement Fund, which was designed to help nonprofit arts organizations experiment with new ways of engaging audiences and participants. The grant will allow Idris Ackamoor & Kenneth Nash of THE PYRAMIDS to conduct concerts, music workshops, and rehearsals to build the "Music is the Healing Force" community orchestra composed of low-income, African American, and nonprofessional musicians culminating in concert presentations in nontraditional arts venues in San Francisco.
